Welcome to the 52nd Aniversary of Uganda’s Independence.
Today, Country wide, Ugandan celebrate the day when they came out colonial rule in 1962 under the Leadership of Dr.Apollo Milton Obote, The President of the Republic of Uganda by then. He was such a patriotic and determined to lead Uganda to Independence; it was for the first time that the British Flag called the Union Jack was lowered and Uganda Flag raise, accompanied by Uganda National Anthem composed by George William Kakoma. His composition lifted Uganda and it was called the “Pearl of Africa”, Land of freedom, and our mother land. Uganda gain full control of its economy and became the people’s protectorate. Dr.Apollo Milton Obote then formed a political Party called Uganda People Congress which steered ownership of country by its people. The economy Uganda started to flourished, markets were open to international Marketers and tourism begun to boost. Being an Heterogeneous Nation, he was unable to contain and maintain his power for a long time, he was overthrown and it kept on and on up to the current ruling Government under the Leadership of HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the foundered of National Resistance Movement in 1986. It is the longest Government ruling Uganda since 1986. Great impact were realized in areas of Poverty eradication,Agriculture,Public sector, environment, country’s economy to mentioned but a few. This years’ celebration took place at Independence ground of Kololo Airstrip attended by East African Heads of State, African Heads of State and European countries. I appreciate the efforts made by our leaders towards receiving a Just Community.
